Tom has this cute obsession with ancient Egypt, so for his birthday, we thought we'd take him to the British Museum. The poor guy had never been to a museum before, so he was practically bouncing off the walls with excitement.
Once we got to the museum, he practically sprinted over to the Rosetta Stone and all the other pharaohs and ancient artifacts. I swear I saw tears of joy in his eyes, and he was practically hugging the display cases.
We even went to an exhibition on the Rosetta Stone, which cost us an arm and a leg, but Tom was so hyped up on hieroglyphic language that he didn't even notice.
Of course, being the know-it-all that I am, I had to show off and tell Tom all sorts of details and stories from my studies. But hey, who doesn't love a good intellectual flex?
After all that learning, we needed to fill our stomachs, so we found this Italian restaurant on Groupon called Sofia. It was practically a steal, and we ate so much we felt like we were going to burst. The wine didn't hurt either. We had ham and melon and bruschetta for starters and then Lasagne and carbonara, which were served with good wine.
Once we were done eating, we needed to walk it off, so we decided to tour around Oxford Street up to the Marble Arch. It was there that Tom finally met my best friend Silvia's friend Elia, who had just returned from Italy. I swear Tom was practically speaking Italian by the end of it.
Overall, it was a pretty funny day, but unfortunately, it was Sunday, so we had to cut the fun short and go to bed early to be ready for work on Monday.
